MENOMONIE, Wis. - The Saint Mary's track and field team excelled Saturday amongst the high numbers of competitors at the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout.Â

Sprints
Â
To start the competition off on the right foot, freshman
Zari Young ran her way into finals and placed 3rd in 7.98 seconds.
Samantha Munson (8.18 seconds) and twin sister
McKenzie Munson (8.58) were other strong finishers on the women's side in the 60m hurdles. On the men's side, both
Jinwoo Jung and
Kijuan Hardy ran new personal bests, with times of 7.33 and 7.53 seconds, respectively.

In the 200m dash,
Rachael Kubichka dropped a new personal record with a time of 28.62 seconds, right behind
Melissa Torres, who finished 14th with a time of 28.41 seconds. Eddie Patton was the first Cardinal to finish in the men's 200m, crossing the line with a time of 23.74 seconds

Antonio Cisewski launched himself to the top of the competition, landing a 6.39m and 3rd place overall in the long jump, while
Ameryn Dostal sticks a new personal record with a 9.76m finishing mark in the triple jump.

Xara Gin, making a name for herself, set two new personal bests in both the high jump (1.43m) and pole vault (3.04m).

Distance

The distance squad loaded up into the 800m dash, with nine total runners representing the Cardinals in the event.Â

Mya Slavin, in her first ever collegiate 800m race, placed 9th with a time of 2:25.27, earning her 7th all-time for the SMU women's indoor 800m.
Abbie Meyer (2:41.29),
Megan Frosch (2:46.75), and
Katherine Goergen (2:47.67) ran strong as well.

Grant Schneider led the way for the Cardinals, finishing in 2:02.47, while
Cade Kloss raced to the finish line with a new personal best of 2:04.24.
Sean Smyth finished in 2:09.26, with
Ryan Topolski (2:12.99) and
Evan Finney (2:14.99) not too far behind.

Throws
Â
Sydney Jackman led the women for the shot put, launching a 12.02m to finish 4th overall, while
Anna Becker tossed a new lifetime best in the weight throw (15.19m), placing 8th at the meet and moving up to 5th all-time for the Saint Mary's women.

Casen Fritz landed a 14.51m in the weight throw to earn him 18th place at the invitational.

Relays

To finish it all off, the Cardinals had four teams participating in the 4x400m dash. The women finished with a time of 4:33.29 and the men finished at 3:36.39 finishing with the fastest 4x400m times yet this season for both men's and women's teams.

The Cardinals will be on the road again next week at the UW-River Falls Winter Classic on Saturday, February 8th.
