WINONA, Minn. - As the new cross country season approaches, Head Coach
Darren Schneider is filled with optimism about what lies ahead for the Saint Mary's University Cardinals.
"Any upcoming season, I'm always excited to see what the team can accomplish," Schneider said. "There's lots of optimism, I am really looking forward to what we can achieve together."
This year's roster features several standout athletes to keep an eye on.Â
On the men's side, senior
Grant Schneider and junior
Isaiah Fitzgerald are expected to lead with experience and strong potential.
For the women,
Mya Slavin, who received Honorable Mention honors, returns after an impressive freshman campaign as one of the top runners in the conference, joined by returning senior
Kendra Schneider, who's poised for a breakout season.
Coach Schneider also encourages fans to come out and support the team.Â
"We've got a really great group of hardworking kids."
The Cardinals have several exciting meets nearby this season, and they're hoping to see strong fan support. The season kicks off at home with the Red and White Alumni and Intrasquad meet on August 30th, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Fans will also have a chance to cheer on the team at the Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on October 4th and again in Colfax, Wisconsin, for the NCAA North Regional on November 15th.
