NORTHFIELD, Minn. / BROOKINGS, S.D. – It was a record-breaking weekend for the Saint Mary's track and field program, as the Cardinals split squads between two meets and came away with a pair of school records and a handful of standout performances.

At the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, South Dakota, Samantha Munson stole the spotlight by breaking her own school record in the 200m, blazing to a 25.69 finish. Not far behind in rewriting the record books was Mya Slavin, who shattered the 3,000m school record with a time of 10:20.58 surpassing the mark that had stood since 2005.

Meanwhile in Northfield at the Carleton Meet of Hearts, Xara Gin soared to a first-place finish in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.30 meters to claim her first victory of the season.

The sprint crew made plenty of noise as well. Deni Zaharieva raced to a runner-up finish in the women's 200m (26.91), with Melissa Torres placing fourth (27.28) and Jossy Saamanen finishing eighth (27.72). On the men's side, Gage Hatch clocked a 6.71 in the 55m for eighth place, while Keaton Miller matched that finish in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.62.

In the 800m, Sam Grywacz led the men with a seventh-place run of 2:10.18, followed by Liam Smith in ninth (2:12.78). Susan Bergeman paced the women with a fifth-place finish in 2:35.87.

In the field events, Ameryn Dostal posted a 9.89m leap in the triple jump for seventh place. Ron White delivered one of the top field performances of the meet, taking third in the men's weight throw with a toss of 14.75m, while Rowan Sween added a 12th-place finish at 12.52m.

With records falling and momentum building, the Cardinals now turn their attention to Friday, Feb. 20, when they compete at the Maverick Invitational in Mankato.
