GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the first time since 2018, a student-athlete of the Saint Mary's softball team is recognized with the most prestigious post season academic honor. Junior Megan McGinnis has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Third-Team list for her dedication on the field and in the classroom.
The Psychology and Public Relation and Digital Media major excelled in the classroom with an impressive 3.97 cumulative grade point average (GPA). She is the epitome of a student-athlete while leading the team to back-to-back 40-win seasons.
The Appleton, Wis., native played in all 49 games at second base for the Cardinals, making 141 at bats with a .411 batting average and leading the team in most doubles with 14 and total bases this season at 85.Â
Defensively, McGinnis was a beast with 61 assists for a .965 fielding percentage.Â
McGinnis becomes just the eighth softball player in program history to receive this accolade and becomes the 14th Cardinal in athletics history to earn Academic All-American honors.Â
