WINONA, Minn. — Brett Weber (Stillwater, Minn.) scored two goals for the second straight game, while Joey Nadeau (Winona, Minn.) and Colin McGlynn (St. Louis, Mo.) each chipped in a goal and an assist, but it was not enough, as the Twin Cities Northern Lights used a pair of three-goal periods to beat the Saint Mary's Univesrity junior varisty men's hockey team 7-5 Tuesday evening at the SMU Ice Arena.

Weber got the Cardinals on the board first at 6:35 of the first period, but the Northern Lights quickly answered with the first of their three first-period goals. Blake Zemaitis (Mount Prospect, Ill.) pushed SMU back in front at 12:21, but the Northern Lights rattled off three unanswered goals — the last less than two minutes into the second period — to take a 4-2 advantage. Weber netted his second of the game midway through the second period to close the gap to 4-3, but again the Northern Lights answered, scoring three straight goals to open a 7-3 lead wiht five minutes remaining in regulation.

McGlynn and Nadeau cut the gap to two in the final five minutes, but that was close as SMU would get in falling to 2-2-0 overall.

Eric Qvale (Minnetonka, Minn.) stopped 22 shots in goal for SMU, while the Northern Lights' Steve Lloyd finished with 23 saves.
