WINONA, Minn. —
Sam Wilczyk scored three times, as the Saint Mary's University junior varsity men's hockey team erupted for 12 goals — including seven in the second period — as the Cardinals routed UW-Eau Claire 12-0 at the SMU Ice Arena.
Wilczyk opened the scoring 42 seconds into the first period, then closed the scoring with his third tally of the game seven minutes into the third period — and in between, SMU would scored 10 more times in recording their highest offensive output of the season.

Kyle Maas gave SMU a 3-0 first-period lead, while Wilczyk,
Nick Christenson,
Evan Shockley, Steve Westphal, Nick Gualano, Ronning and
Ryan Gager found the back of the net in the Cardinals' seven-goal second period.
Westphal netted his second of the game and Wilczyk completed his hat trick wtih third-period tallies.
Tim High stopped all 23 shots he faced in goal for the Cardinals in recording the shutout. UW-Eau Claire's Ryan Laughlin, meanwhile, finished with 60 saves.
