WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University JV men's hockey team got a goal from Nick Gualano with four minutes remaining in the second period, breaking a 4-4 tie and lifting the Cardinals to a 5-4 victory over Saint John's Saturday at the SMU Ice Arena.
The two teams skated to a 2-2 tie after the game's first 20 minutes, with
Mike Anderson and
Sam Wilczyk accounted for SMU's two tallies.
Peter Ronning and
Beau Braun scored second-period goals to knot the game at 4-4 — and set up Gualano's heroics.
Tim High stopped 38 shots for the Cardinals, who ran their winning streak to seven straight.
