Game Summary vs. Gustavus
ST. PETER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's junior varsity hockey team scored first — and second — but Gustavus rebounded with a three-goal third period to have the last laugh, as the Gusties handed SMU a 5-3 setback Saturday at the Don Roberts Ice Arena.
Brett Weber (Stillwater, Minn.) got SMU on the board with the lone goal of the first period, while
Mark Thorson (Roseville, Minn.) pushed the Cardinals' lead to 2-0 with a short-handed goal at 9:14 of the second period. The Gusties quickly made it a 2-2 game, scoring back-to-back goals less than a minute apart midway through the period.
GAC took a 3-2 lead 1:50 into the third period, but
Nick Sullivan (Woodbury, Minn.) pulled SMU even, 3-3, five minutes later. That, however, would be all the offense for SMU, as the Gusties scored a pair of unanswered goals to seal the victory.
