WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's junior varsity hockey team erupted for four goals in the first period and six more in the second in rolling to a 10-5 victory over the Minnesota Wildcats at the SMU Ice Arena.

Joey Nadeau (Winona, Minn.) got the Cardinals on the goal four minutes into the opening period, as SMU never took its foot off the accelerator. Jake Flattem (Shakopee, Minn.), Blake Zemaitis (Mount Prospect, Ill.), and Brett Weber (Stillwater, Minn.) also scored first-period goals for the Cardinals, while Colin McGlynn (St. Louis, Mo.) scored two goals and Flattem, Weber, Nick Wardlaw (Arnolds, Minn.) and Nick Sullivan (Woodbury, Minn.) all netted second-period goals, as SMU took a 10-2 advantage into the game's final 20 minutes.

Mike Soulen (Irving, Texas) and Erik Qvale (Minnetonka, Minn.) shared the goaltending duties for the Cardinals, with Soulen stopping 18 of the 20 shots he faced, while Qvale stopped 15 third-period shots.
