Complete Fall Academic All-MIAC Team
WINONA, Minn. — Thirteen Saint Mary's University fall student-athletes earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition, it was announced Thursday.
The MIAC recognized a record 303 student-athletes, who represented the conference's 13 institutions.
Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition. Athletically, student-athletes in football, soccer, and volleyball must compete in 50% of their team's varsity regular season contests. Golfers must be a member of their competing team at the conference championship and cross country runners must finish in the top 50 at the conference championship or be in the top seven of their team at the MIAC Championships.
The SMU women's soccer team led the way, landing six players —
Emily Berg (Owatonna, Minn.), #Bethany Kaufmann (Green Bay, Wis.),
Stephanie Marnocha (Appleton, Wis.),
Erin Morgan (Appleton, Wis.),
Melissa Paulson (Ham Lake, Minn.) and
Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) — on the academic all-conference team.
Four members of the Cardinal volleyball team —
Jessica Larson (Pine Island, Minn.),
Lindsey Legatt (Sartell, Minn.),
Theresa Perrini (Fairway, Kan.) and
Courtney Runge (St. James, Minn.) — made the team, while men's cross country was represented by
John Vallez (Eagan, Minn.) and the women's golf team boasted two selections,
Brittney Nielsen (Apple Valley, Minn.) and
Katelyn Rizzi (Austin, Minn.).
