Last Action: The Cardinals needed to rally from a 7-4 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to salvage a split against Concordia Saturday. The Cobbers scored five runs in the top of the ninth to win the opener 7-2, with SMU scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the split, 9-7. … Hamline, meanwhile, stepped out of conference play and cruised to back-to-back wins over UW-Stout, beating the Blue Devils 7-5 and 3-0 in St. Paul, Minn.

Last Meeting: For the third straight day, the Cardinals opened their doubleheader with a victory, as SMU broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run off the bat of Danielle Geske (Rosemount, Minn.), then held off a seventh-inning Hamline rally for a 3-2 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory. And, for the third straight day, the Cardinals closed their doubleheader with a loss, as the Pipers turned the tables in Game 2, holding off a seventh-inning SMU rally en route to a 4-3 win.

Saint Mary's Cardinal Notes: SMU's Game 1 loss to the Cobbers marked the first time this season the Cardinals had dropped three straight. … SMU's Game 1 vs. Concordia was also the Cardinals' first extra-inning game of the season and the longest extra-inning game since the 2006 season, when SMU played two nine-inning games, one 10-inning contest and one 11-inning marathon. … The Cobbers' seven runs in Game 2 Saturday marked the most allowed by SMU in a win since the Cardinals beat Buena Vista 17-9 on March 8, 2008. … Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) and Mallory Betzold (Farmington, Minn.) each had two hits in Game 1 vs. Concordia, while Joanna Mangan (Chicago, Ill.) recorded her first collegiate four-hit game, going 4-for-4, to lead the SMU hit parade in Game 2. It was the fourth four-hit game of the season for an SMU player. … Cassie Otte (Randolph, Minn.) leads the team with 14 multiple-hit games, including six three-hit games. … Otte leads the team in average (.482), at-bats (83), runs (27), hits (40), and stolen bases (14). … Katy Gannon (Roselle, Ill.) is the team's RBI leader (23), while also leading the team in home runs (4), total bases (45) and slugging percentage (.643). Gannon also boasts a team-best eight extra-base hits and five multiple-RBI games. … Gannon was held hitless in Game 1 vs. Saint Benedict on April 4, snapping her season-, team- and career-high 14-game hitting streak and marking the first time this season she failed to collect at least one hit.  Gannon has hit safely in 19 of the team's 22 games. … SMU's pitching staff enters today's DH boasting a 3.15 earned-run-average. … Betzold has thrown a team-leading 83.2 innings, posting a 3.18 earned-run-average and a 9-6 record, while also striking out a team-best 33. … SMU's 27 runs vs. Mount Mary on March 20 marked the second time this season the Cardinals have plated 20 or more runs. SMU opened the season with a 29-0 rout of North Central (Minn.) on March 14. … SMU's 27- and 29-run outbursts were the second- and third-most runs scored in school history, behind the 43 runs the Cardinals plated in a 43-2 win over St. Catherine on April 24, 1997. … The Cardinals have scored 10 or more runs eight times this season. … The Cardinals have outscored their first 22 opponents 173-75 — including 33-5 in the second inning and 48-15 in the third. SMU has given up 24 runs combined from the sixth inning on — including six in Game 1 vs. Concordia (one in the seventh and five in the ninth) and one in Game 2 (one in the sixth). … SMU is 7-0 when scoring in the first inning and 10-0 when scoring the game's first run. … After going 6-0 when leading after five innings, SMU dropped back-to-back games to Bethel and Concordia when leading with two innings to play. …  Five of SMU's 14 wins have come via shutout. … SMU is a perfect 11-0 when leading after the fourth inning and is unbeaten (11-0) when holding its opponents to two runs or less. Hamline Piper Notes: The Pipers enter today's game having won eight straight games, dating back to a 7-0, Game 2 loss to St. Thomas on April 4. …  Hamline had nine different players with at least one hit in Monday's opener vs. UW-Stout, while the Pipers' five Game 2 hits came from five different players. … Kelsey Tacheny threw a complete-game three-hitter in Hamline's Game 2 win. … Heidi Larsen is hitting a team-best .357, while Sophie Davidson leads the team in at-bats (65), runs (23) and hits (23). … Hamline's five home runs have come from four different players, with Erin Farley launching a team-best two round-trippers. Ferley also leads the team with 17 RBIs. … Davidson has compiled nine multiple-hit games, while Ferley, Sarah Dittberner and Heidi Larson have all collected four multiple-RBI games — including one four-RBI effort each. … Jessalyn Weaver has thrown a team-leading 80.2 innings, while also leading the team in complete games (11) and strikeouts (39).
