Last Meeting: The Cardinals may have started fast in their nonoconference doubleheader against the Blugolds — scoring four runs in the first two innings — but they didn't have the all-important finishing kick, as the Blugolds scored three times in the third and once in the fourth to edge Saint Mary's 5-4 in the teams' season-opener at the Rosemount Dome. And things didn't go any better in the second game, as SMU once again jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first two innings, only to give up a single run in the top of the third and four runs in the sixth as UW-Eau Claire completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory.

Saint Mary's Cardinal Notes: With their sweep of Macalester, the Cardinals' slim Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament hopes were still alive — but just barely.
