ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team, coming off a 2-0 conference loss to Carleton at home on Saturday, heads to St. Paul, Minn., Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against conference power Macalester.

Last Action: The Cardinals dropped their first game of the season Saturday, giving up a pair of first-half goals in falling to Carleton 2-0 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Ochrymowycz Field. Macalester, meanwhile, dropped its second straight Sunday, falling to UW-Eau Claire 5-2 in Eau Claire, Wis.

Last Meeting — Saturday, October 11, 2008: Macalester proved to be rather ungracious guests, as the Scots rained on the Cardinals' homecoming parade by scoring three first-half goals en route to a 3-0 conference victory.

SMU Cardinal Notes: Saturday's loss to Carleton snapped the Cardinals' season-opening five-game unbeaten streak (4-0-1). … Mariana Sanchez (Puebla, Mexico), who stopped a career-high 13 shots in SMU's 0-0 tie vs. Bethel last Tuesday, finished with 10 saves vs. the Knights on Saturday. Carleton's first goal, at 10:18 of the first half, snapped Sanchez's scoreless streak at 386:43. She had not given up a goal since the Cardinals' season-opener vs. Simpson. … Sanchez has now stopped 31 of the 34 shots she's faced and boasts a 0.51 goals-against-average with a .912 save percentage. … After scoring nine goals in SMU's first four games, Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) was held scoreless for the second straight game vs. Carleton. Sibik, who has led the Cardinals in scoring in each of her first two seasons, enters Tuesday's game at Macalester with a team-leading nine goals — including a career-best four goals vs. UW-Superior last Sunday — and 20 points. … Sibik boasts seven multiple-goal games in her Cardinal career. … Sibik's nine goals this year give her 29 for her three-year career, ranking the SMU junior seventh all-time. … Carleton's two goals vs. SMU Saturday were the first allowed by SMU in the first half this season. SMU, meanwhile, has scored eight times in the first half and seven in the second.

Macalester Scot Notes: The Scots have dominated the series between SMU and Macalester, going 11-0-2 in the teams' last 13 meetings. Despite the 12-game winless streak, SMU still holds a 14-12-4 all-time vs. the Scots since 1983. … Macalester enters today's game ranked No. 16 in the latest NSCAA Top 25. … Sunday's game at UW-Eau Claire was the fourth straight road game for the Scots, who had opened the season with three straight home games. … Maddy Cochrane and Matea Wasend accounted for Macalester's two goals vs. UW-Eau Claire — it was the first goal of the season for both. … Emily Bardwell leads the team in goals (4) and points (9), while Maddie Mette boasts a team-best three assists. … GK Tressa Versteeg has appeared in six of the team's seven games, boasting a 1.29 goals-against-average, while stopping 23 of the 31 shots she's faced.
