ST. PETER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University junior varsity men's hockey team scored three goals in the third period to rally from a 3-1 deficit to earn a 5-5 tie against Gustavus Sunday at the Don Roberts Ice Arena.

The Cardinals got goals from five different players — including third-period tallies from Evan Schokley (Omaha, Neb.), Alex North (Faribault, Minn.) and Kyle Kozelka (Owatonna, Minn.). Kozelka scored with 56 seconds remaining in regulation to give SMU a short-lived, 5-4 advantage, but the Gusties responded with the game-tying goal 30 seconds later to force the five-minute overtime period.

Mike Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) and Dan Billiar (Mankato, Minn.) also scored for SMU, while goalie Lance Bortot (Mounds View, Minn.) finished with 29 saves.

The Cardinals are back in action this weekend, hosting Saint John's in a 6 p.m. contest on Saturday and a 2 p.m. game on Sunday at the SMU Ice Arena.
