Game Summary
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — For the second game in a row, the Saint Mary's University men's hockey junior varsity team surendered the game's first goal Saturday evening against the University of Minnesota JV.
And for the second straight night, that was the only goal the Cardinals would allow, as SMU rattled off five unanswered goals to complete the sweep of the Gophers with a 5-1 win at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
The Gophers got on the board three minutes into the first period on a goal by Eric Freckurg, but SMU responded less than a minute later as
Nic Gualano (Prospect Heights, Ill.) found the back of the net.
Dan Billiar (Mankato, Minn.) would also score in the first period, as SMU took a 2-1 lead into the locker room after the game's opening 20 minutes.
Nate Percy (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and
Peter Ronning (Eden Prairie, Minn.) would add second-period tallies, and
Mike Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) scored in the third period as SMU pushed its winning streak to four straight.
Sean Muller (Boerne, Texas) finished with 29 saves for the Cardinals.
