Complete All-MIAC Team
WINONA, Minn. —
Amy Sibik reached several milestones during her senior year for the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team.
The Cardinal senior became just the sixth player in women's soccer history to eclipse the 100-career point mark, when she scored the eventual game-winning goal in SMU's 2-0 win over Hamline on Oct. 16.
She also closed out her career as the team's goal-scoring leader in each of her four seasons, finishing with 46 career goals — ranking her fifth all-time.
Yet, despite her all her on-the-field successes, one thing was missing from Sibik's illustrious resume — until Wednesday, that is.
For the first time in her four-year career, Sibik was named to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team.
An honorable-mention all-conference selection following her freshman and junior seasons, Sibik put an exclamation point on her stellar career in 2010, leading the team in all three offensive categories with 12 goals, five assists and 29 points. Sibik's 12 goals — tied for the most among MIAC players — were two shy of her single-season career high and marked the third time in her four years that she would net 10 or more goals in a season.
Junior
Sloane Kuramoto (Rochester, Minn.), who scored two goals and added three assists for seven points in her first season with the Cardinals, was an All-MIAC honorable mention selection.
Carleton's Niki Tomita was named the 2010 MIAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year, while Carleton head coach Keren Gudeman earned Coach of the Year honors, after guiding the Knights to the regular-season conference crown and a berth in the NCAA Division III national tournament.
As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC also announced the fourth annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for women's soccer, which included SMU's
Tania Trowbridge (Shakopee, Minn.). Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates, as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.
