MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's swimming and diving team didn't get its second straight dual-meet victory Saturday afternoon, falling to Concordia 90-41, but for coach Eric Lindquist there were plenty of silver linings.

“It was a good meet for us,” said Lindquist, whose squad was coming off a 121-64 win over Hamline on Friday. “Concordia's got a solid team, and I thought we put up a pretty good fight. We got some great individual performances, which was great to see.”

In fact, while Lindquist wasn't worried about the final team finish, it was a pair of “teams” that led the way for the Cardinals against the Cobbers.

SMU's 200 freestyle relay team of Andrea Fogel (Haifa, Israel), Molly Spray (Chicago, Ill.), Lisa Lucas (Gunnison, Colo.) and Nikki Farmer (Medford, Wis.) touched the wall with a first-place time of 1:56.89, while Farmer, Fogel and Lucas also teamed with Anna Smaron (Maple Plain, Minn.) to place second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:37.41.

Smaron collected SMU's lone individual first-place finish, winning the 200 IM (2:31.11), while also placing second in the 200 breaststroke (2:42.28). Lucas, Spray, Farmer, Fogel and Liz Flynn (Mahtomedi, Minn.) all chipped in second-place efforts — Lucas in the 1,000 freestyle (12:12.28), Spray in the 50 freestyle (29>20), Farmer in the 100 freestyle (1:01.90), Fogel in the 100 butterfly (1:13.42) and Flynn in the one-meter diving (151.45).

The Cardinals close out the 2010 portion of their schedule next weekend, traveling to Luther for a dual meet on Friday, before the divers head to St. Catherine for the inaugural St. Catherine Diving Invitational on Saturday.
