WINONA, Minn. — Brian Soskin (Arlington Heights, Ill.) scored two goals and Nic Gualano (Prospect Heights, Ill.) broke a 3-3 tie with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, as the Saint Mary's University junior varsity men's hockey team slipped past Gustavus 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the SMU Ice Arena.

Soskin gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead, scoring the lone goal in the first period and his second six minutes into the second period. Gustavus cut the gap to 2-1 with a powerplay tally at 10:36, but the Cardinals regained their two-goal lead when Alex Riverness (Hastings, Minn.) scored on the powerplay three minutes later.

The Gusties pulled even with two third-period tallies, setting up Gualano's late-game heroics.

Lance Borlot (Mounds View, Minn.) finished with 29 saves in goal for the Cardinals, who are back in action Sunday, hosting the Rochester Ice Hawks.
