The Cardinals, who were coming off a huge 3-0 victory over league-leading St. Thomas on Tuesday, couldn't get their offense on track against Bethel Wednesday, falling to the Royals 6-3 and 9-2 at the SMU Field. Augsburg, meanwhile, got a 4-for-5 performance — including two triples and three RBIs in the second game — from Jennifer Castillo as the Auggies swept visiting Carleton 3-1 and 5-0 Wednesday.

In the first game of their MIAC doubleheader against Augsburg, the Cardinals could do no wrong, banging out 13 hits and scoring 12 runs en route to a 12-4, five-inning victory. In the second game of the twinbill, however, the Cardinals could do no right, as Augsburg pitcher Kylee Persing — making her first collegiate start — limited SMU to just two hits and allowed just an unearned run in the seventh inning in hurling the Auggies to a 5-1 victory and a split at the SMU Field.
