The Cardinals gave up single goals in both halves in dropping a 2-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference decision to Carleton Saturday in Northfield, Minn. Central, meanwhile, is coming off a 6-1 loss to St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn., on Friday.

Today's game is just the third home game in the Cardinals' first eight contests. Saturday's game at Carleton was SMU's fourth straight road contest. … The Cardinals snapped a two-game losing streak with their 1-0 victory over Bethel Tuesday. … SMU has now shut out the Royals in their last two meetings. … All three of SMU's wins have been by shutout — 7-0 vs. Ripon, 7-0 vs. Lakeland and 1-0 vs. Bethel. SMU is the third straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent for the Dutch, who have lost to Gustavus and St. Catherine. … The Dutch are without the services of Kristi Klatt, last year's leading scorer, who was injured in a preseason scrimmage and lost for the year. … Minus Klatt, Central's 19-player varsity roster includes 16 freshmen and sophomores. … Brianne Knutson scored Central's lone goal vs. St. Catherine on Friday. She and Sierra Kuhns are the only Dutch players to find the goal through the team's first five games. … Kuhns had two goals and an assist as a freshman last season. … Steph Hasken and Shelby Austin have shared the goalkeeping duties this season, stopping 45 of the 74 shots they've faced. … Both of Central's goals have come in the first half. Central's opponents, meanwhile, have netted 15 goals in the first half and 14 in the second.
