WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's junior varsity hockey team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday, erupting for six goals in the third period to break open a 3-3 deadlock and lead SMU to a 9-3 victory over the Edina Lakers at the SMU Ice Arena.
Dan Billiar scored a pair of goals in a two-minute span in the third period, while
Drew Wohlfiel also netted a pair of goals for the Cardinals.
Tyler Ridgedell,
Kyle Maas,
Kyle Kozelka,
Anthony Tillman and
Evan Shockley also scored for SMU. The goal was the third in as many games for Tillman.
The Cardinals (1-2-0 overall) are back in action on Friday, traveling to Rochester, Minn., for a 7 p.m. game against the Rochester Ice Hawks.
