WINONA, Minn. — For the second game in a row, the Saint Mary's University men's junior varsity hockey team battled to a one-goal decision — unfortunately for the Cardinals, the end result was the same as the Northern Lights handed SMU a 5-4 setback Tuesday at the SMU Ice Arena.

The Cardinal got scoring from four different players — Anthony Tillman, Nick Christenson, Dan Billiar and Peter Ronning — but it was not enough, as the Northern Lights scored the game's final three goals, with the game-winner coming off the stick of Lukas Siomerainger six minutes into the third period.

Allen Mekash was in goal for the Cardinals, stopping 21 shots, while Will Schlanger kicked out 41 SMU shots for the Nothern Lights.

The Cardinals (0-2-0 overall) are back in action on Tuesday, hosting the Edina Lakers in a 7:30 p.m. game at the SMU Ice Arena.
