The Cardinals took part in a 5 ½-hour marathon doubleheader against Augsburg on Wednesday, in which SMU got an eighth-inning home run from Erin Stenseth in a 4-2, Game 1 win, then got an RBI single from Hailey Ohl (Bloomington, Minn.) in the 10th inning of a 5-4, Game 2 victory. … Concordia, meanwhile, had it doubleheader at Macalester on Saturday postponed. The Cobbers last action was Thursday, when they dropped 5-1, 11-3 conference decisions at Hamline.

Katy Gannon (Roselle, Ill.) drilled a three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning, erasing a 2-0 Concordia lead and propelling SMU to a 10-3 victory in the first game of their conference doubleheader. And it was more of the same in Game 2, as SMU again spotted the Cobbers the early lead, falling behind 4-1 heading into the top of the sixth inning. By the time Mallory Betzold (Farmington, Minn.) had grounded out to short for the final out in the top of the sixth, however, the Cardinals had plated 11 runs en route to a 12-4, six-inning victory and a sweep of the conference series.
