ST. PETER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University JV men's hockey team erupted for five first-period goals and held off hard-charging Gustavus en route to a 7-5 win Sunday at the Don Roberts Ice Arena.

Beau Braun, Peter Ronning, Mike Anderson, Drew Wohfiel and Tyler Ridgedell all scored first-period goals for the Cardinals. The first-period tally was one of two goals for Ridgedell, who also added a goal early in the third period. Evan Shockley accounted for SMU's other goal.

Tim High finished with 32 saves in goal for the Cardinals, while SMU pelted GAC goalie Mike Irving with 37 shots.
