MIAC All-Tournament Team
WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's University's
Paige Carter (Rosemount, Minn.) and
Kristen Thelen (Rochester, Minn.) were named to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, it was announced Monday.
The Cardinal duo — two of SMU's offensive sparkplugs all season — were again swinging a big stick last weekend at the MIAC Tournament in Shoreview, Minn.
Thelen hit .400, going 4-for-10 with a pair of runs scored and four RBIs, while Carter boasted a .364 batting average with four hits — including a double — in 11 at-bats. Carter also drove in two runs and stole a base.
SMU, which made it second straight MIAC Tournament appearance, finished 1-2 in the four-team, double-elimination tourney. The Cardinals fell to eventual champion St. Thomas 8-7 in their opening-round game, before bouncing back with a 6-2 victory over Augsburg. Gustavus then ousted SMU from post-season play with a 7-1 setback.
