SAUK CENTER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's golf team is back in action this weekend, heading to Greystone GC and Blackberry Ridge GC to take part in the 36-hole Saint John's Invitational.

The Cardinals' Last Action:
The Cardinals shaved 14 strokes off their opening-day performance at the Augsburg Invitational Sunday, carding a 338 for a 690 total and a 16th-place finish.

A Year Ago At The Saint John's Invitational:
September 17-18, 2011: Tim Wolford led the way for the Cardinals for a second straight day, adding an 85 to his opening-round 79 for a 164 36-hole total, leading SMU to a 21st-place showing. Ethan Austin (Northbrook, Ill.) added a 95-87—182, followed by Will Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn. / 92-91—183), Bobby Glynn (Orland Park, Ill. / 90-94—184) and Jason Horstman (Faribault, Minn. / 97-95—192). … The University of Manitoba held off a second-day charge by host Saint John's to win the team title with a 611 (306-305), one shot better than the Johnnies (317-295—612).

Following this weekend's SJU Invitational, the Cardinals are off until Oct. 6-7-8, when they travel to Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids for the season-ending, 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

Blake Westerberg (Red Wing, Minn.) carded his best collegiate round of the season on Sept. 6, when he fired a six-over-par 77 at the Bethany Lutheran Triangular. … Westerberg's round of 77 at the Bethany Triangular was just two shots back of Carleton's Aaron Buckley's medalist round of 75. … Westerberg followed up that 77 with a 79 during the opening round of last weekend's 36-hole Augsburg Invitational. … Westerberg followed up that 79 with an 82 on Sunday for a team-best 161 36-hole total. … Ethan Austin (Northbrook, Ill.) shot an 85 during the final round of the Augsburg Invitational for a 173 total, while Will Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn. / 95-83—178), Eric Zimmerman (Minneapolis, Minn. / 90-92—182) and Bobby Glynn (Orland Park, Ill. / 95-88—182) rounded out the Cardinals' lineup. … Austin posted the team's low 18-hole round of the 2011 season when he fired a four-over-par 76 at the Augsburg Invitational on Sept. 11. … Glynn carded a career-best final-round 79 at the MIAC Championships last season.
