WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team closes out the home portion of its 2013 schedule on Wednesday, as the Cardinals host Hamline in a 7:30 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Ochrymowycz Field.

SMU vs. Hamline — Their Last Meeting:
October 6, 2012: SMU put an end to a five-half scoreless drought, getting a second-half tally from Bethany Schmidt (Sparta, Wis.) in the Cardinals' Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Hamline. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, one goal would not be enough, as Hamline scored twice in the game's final 45 minutes — including the game-winner with 12 minutes remaining in regulation — to hand SMU a 2-1 conference setback in St. Paul, Minn.

Wednesday's game against Hamline is the final collegiate home game for Cardinal seniors Tessa Scanlon (Cologne, Minn.), Bethany Schmidt (Sparta, Wis.), Katie Holmes (Ankeny, Iowa) and Heidi Martin (Edina, Minn.). … Schmidt scored her team-leading third goal of the season against Saint Benedict last Saturday. … Schmidt has now scored five goals in the last two seasons. … Kelli Harstad (Hampton, Minn.) and Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk, Ohio) are second to Schmidt in goals with two each. … With her team-leading third goal, Schmidt also pushed her points total to a team-high seven. … SMU's seven assists this year have come from seven different players — Blackwood, Schmidt, Harstad, Holmes, Emma Schaefer (Falcon Heights, Minn.), Megan Nitzsche (St. Francis, Wis.) and Katie Nicoson. … Four SMU players — Harstad, Blackwood, Schaefer and Martin (Ankeny, Iowa) — have scored their first collegiate goal this season. … Aubrie Cornell (Holts Summit, Mo.) recorded a career-high 13 saves against UW-La Crosse last Wednesday.
