WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's golf team begins a busy four-day stretch on Thursday, hosting Bethany Lutheran in a dual match at Cedar Valley GC, before heading to Centennial GC in Waverly, Iowa, to take part in the Wartburg Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

SMU opened its season Friday, squaring off against Macalester in a dual meet at The Jewel in Lake City, Minn. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Macalester's depth proved to be too much, as the Scots handed SMU a
338-433 setback.

Thursday's dual will be the first-ever meeting between the Cardinals and the Vikings.
SMU at Wartburg Invitational — A Year Ago:
September 8-9, 2012: Jenna Mrozinski (North St. Paul, Minn.) carded a second-round 93 to help the Cardinals to a
16th-place finish at the Wartburg Fall Invitational. Mrozinski, who opened the 36-hole tournament with a 92 on Saturday, finished with a 185 total in sparking the Cardinals to a 401 second-day score and an 811 two-day total. St. Thomas won the team title, shooting a 311 on Sunday for a 634 total and a seven-shot win over UW-Stout. Gustavus was third at 642, while first-round leader Carleton was fourth (649) and Wartburg was fifth (651).
