WAVERLY, Iowa —
Kaitlin Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) continued to make her presence felt for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team, as the freshman carded a team-best 94 at the Wartburg Invitational Saturday afternoon.
With Kling leading the way, the Cardinals head into Sunday's final round in 16th place. Carleton leads the tournament with a 304 team score, five shots ahead of St. Thomas, with UW-Eau Claire (311), UW-Stout (317) and Wartburg (317) rounding out the top five.
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) and
Jennie Marx (Austin, Minn.) were each a shot back of Kling with first-round 95s, while
Haley Jung (Monticello, Minn. / 102) and
Paula Avila (Weslaco, Texas / 103) completed the Cardinals' lineup.
The second round of the 36-hole tournament will kick off Sunday morning at Centennial Oaks Golf Course.
