WINONA, Minn.  — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's basketball team closes out its 2014-15 season on Saturday, as the Cardinals host Macalester in a 3 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup at the Saint Mary's Gym.

After back-to-back road games, the Cardinals return home to the Saint Mary's Gym for Saturday's season finale against Macalester. … Will Swiggum (St. Charles, Minn.) led a trio of Cardinals who scored in double figures against Carleton Wednesday. Swiggum finished with 14 points, while Mark Schumacher (Perham, Minn.) and Ronnie Ortiz (Dayton, Ohio) each chipped in 11 points. … Ortiz and Schumacher have both scored in double figures in back-to-back games—Ortiz finished with 12 points and Schumacher netted 10 vs. Gustavus last Saturday. … Schumacher has now scored 10 or more points in five of the team's last seven games—including a career-high 20-point effort against Illinois Institute of Technology on Feb. 2—and is averaging 12.8 ppg during that stretch. … Schumacher is one of seven Saint Mary's players who has recorded career-high games of 10 or more points this season—Wylie Ferron (Waconia, Minn. / 22), Connor Kaiser (Rockland, Wis. / 22), Ortiz (21), Nick Ogren (Stillwater, Minn. / 15), Jake Rhyner (Apple Valley, Minn. / 14), and Zach Hinrichs (Lake City, Minn.) are the others. … Swiggum equaled his career high with 24 points against Martin Luther on Jan. 26, while Kaiser chipped in his career-best 22 points. … The efforts by Swiggum and Kaiser marked the first time this season Saint Mary's has boasted two players scoring 20 or more points in the same game.
