WAVERLY, Iowa — Kaitlyn Kling (LeRoy, Minn.) and
Madison Gately (Glenview, Ill.) led the way for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team, as the Cardinals kicked off their spring season on Saturday at the Wartburg Spring Invitational.
Kling fired a team-best 93, while Gately chipped in a 98 during the opening roud of the 36-hole event, held at Prairie Links Golf Course.
Emily Vlahos (Orland Park, Ill.) finished with an opening-round 112, while
Tiarra Thompson (Jonesboro, Ga.), and
Sarah Munns (White Bear Lake, Minn.) rounded out the lineup with 122 and 124, respectively.
Host Wartburg leads the event with an opening-round 318, two shots in front of UW-Eau Claire.
The two-day tournament concludes on Sunday.
