LAKE CITY, Minn. — Grace Gillis could not have scripted a better encore performance.

The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota sophomore carded a career-best 94 during the opening round of the D3 Classic Saturday afternoon—marking the first time in her collegiate career she has carded a round under 100.

And as good as she was Saturday, she was even better during Sunday's final round.

Gillis shaved four strokes off that previous career best, shooting a second-day 90 to lead the Cardinal women's golf team to a 15th-place finish at The Jewel.

Michaela Heuckendorf chipped in a 210 (102-108) for the Cardinals, followed by Sarah Munns (104-118—222), Annika Blesener (118-105—223), and Tiarra Thompson (118-111—229).

Host Carleton took home the team title, finishing with a 627 total after a second-round 314 to go with the Knights' 313 opening-day effort. UW-Stout and St. Thomas placed second at 640, with Saint Benedict (645) and St. Catherine (652) rounding out the top five.

Wartburg's Brooke Klostermann earned medalist honors, following up her three-under 69 in the first round with a second-day 80 and a 149 total. Carleton teammates Ayumi Sakamoto and Ziyl Wang tied for second with 152 totals, followed by Natalie Amundson of Saint Benedict (154), UW-Stout's Trystin Kluess (155), and Bethel's Nicole Miller (155).

The Cardinals are back on the links next Friday and Saturday, heading to Oneota Golf Course in Decorah, lowa, to take part in the 36-hole Luther Invitational.
