DECORAH, Iowa — When the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota swimming and diving teams hit the pool for Saturday's Luther Norse Sprints Invitational, it had been over a month since the Cardinals had last competed.
 
The Cardinals certainly didn't look like a team that hadn't raced since Dec. 3.
 
Far from it.
 
The Cardinal men collected six top 10 finishes, while the Saint Mary's women recorded four—including a third-place showing from Alyssa Haram—at the non-team-scored event.
 
Jack Wells led the way for the Cardinal men, clocking a time of 22.96 to place fourth in the 50 freestyle, while Griffin Rades chipped in a seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:12.56) and an eighth in the 100 IM (58.71), and Brian Mockler placed seventh in the 50 breaststroke (29.94) and 10^th in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.36). Nick Sawchuk added a sixth-place showing in the 1,000 freestyle, stopping the clock in 12:30.63
 
Haram touched the wall in 12:33.20 to finish third in the 1,000 freestyle, leading a pair of top-10 finishes in the event, as Lela Petterson placed fifth with a time of 13:02.66. Petterson was also ninth in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 6:22.65.
 
Claire King chipped in a time of 6:07.04 to finish seventh in the 500 freestyle, and Erica Camarato delivered a time of 1:19.12 to finish sixth in the 100 breaststroke, with Claire King adding a 6:07.04 in the 500 freestyle for a seventh-place showing.
 
The Cardinals return to action next Saturday, as Saint Mary's entertains Ripon in a dual meet starting at noon at the Jul Gernes Pool.
