BECKER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's golf team close out its season beginning Saturday, taking part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Pebble Creek Golf Course.

2017 MIAC Championships Recap:
• October 7-8-9, 2017 * Pebble Creek Golf Course * Becker, Minn.: Carleton was crowned champions of the MIAC with a 54-hole total of 924 (305-304-315) at the 2017 MIAC Women's Golf Championships at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn. The Knights' three-day team total broke the previous Conference low of 935, set by the 2014 Carleton team – the Knights' last MIAC championship unit. The 2017 squad also set a 36-hole MIAC record with 609 strokes through the first two rounds. As a result of their victory, the Knights have earned the MIAC's automatic qualifier to the 2018 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, marking Carleton's third trip to nationals in the last four years. Saint Benedict carded a three-day total of 943 (320-307-316) to finish in second-place, followed by St. Thomas in third with 952 (321-309-322). Last season's team champion, St. Catherine, came in fourth-place this year with a 54-hole total of 966 (320-320-326), while Gustavus finished fifth with 975 (330-316-329). • Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.) heads into this weekend's MIAC Championships as the Cardinals' scoring leader, boasting a 90.44 stroke average. … Massimo has carded the team's low round in seven of the team's nine competitive rounds. … Massimo opened her collegiate career with an 89 at the Mac/Mary Dual on Aug. 31, and followed that up with rounds of 88 and 86 at the 36-hole Saint Benedict Invitational on Sept. 1-2. … Annie Lorsung (Amery, Wis.) enters her first conference championships with a 95.22 stroke average. … Lorsung carded a career-best 90 during Day 2 of the Saint Mary's Invitational on Sept. 16. … Michaela Heuckendorf (Plymouth, Minn. / 100.00 avg.), who posted a career-best round of 89 at last year's Wartburg Fall Invitational, carded a season-low 95 during the second round of the Saint Benedict Invitational on Sept. 2. … Megan Larson (Galesville, Wis. / 100.14 avg.) carded a career-best 93 during the second round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational on Sept. 9. … Saint Mary's posted its top team total of the season during the second round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational on Sept. 9, carding a 377, two shots better than the 379 they posted during Round 2 of the Saint Benedict Invitational on Sept. 2.
