MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota track and field teams set the bar rather high at the indoor season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal last Saturday — garnering 10 first-place finishes.
As impressive as that showing was, however, the Cardinals weren't about to rest on their laurels, ratcheting the bar up a notch or two Saturday afternoon at the UW-Stout Open.
Kyle Lichttenegger led the way for the Cardinals, winning the high jump with a leap of 1.83 meters.
Desmond Steward chipped in a second in the triple jump (13.58m) and
Jon Meaden added a second in the 800 (2:08.78).
On the women's side, Rachel Ohde delivered a second-place mark of 1.63 meters in the high jump, and the 4x400 relay team of Alicia Schurrer, Kynzie Smedsrud, Hannah Crowe, and Sydney Klausler posted a fourth-place time of 4:20.94.
The Cardinals return to Menomonie, Wis., next weekend, taking part in UW-Stout's Warren Bowlus Invitational.
