WINONA, Minn. —
Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.) shot an team-best, opening-round 95 and
Madyson Ulrey (North Manchester, Ind.) chipped in a 97, as the Saint Mary's University women's golf team carded a 399 to sit fifth after the first round of the 36-hole Saint Mary's Invitational.
St. Scholastica owns the opening-round team lead, shooting a 365 for a one-shot lead over UW-La Crosse. Viterbo is third (370), followed by Augsburg (398), Saitn Mary's (399), and UW-Superior (418).
Along with Massimo's 95 and Ulrey's 97, the Cardinals also got a 100 from
Celeste Van Klein (Lake City, Minn.), a 107 from
Cassie Sepp () and a 111 from
Dani Stevens ().
Maija Tanberg shot a tournament-low 81 during Saturday's first round to grab medalist honors, holding a two-shot lead over Macalester's Tenley Smith, while Macalester's Kiwa Anisman and Viterbo's Bailey Schmidt are tied for third with 86s.
The final round of the two-day, 36-hole event is set for Sunday at The Bridges.
