DECORAH, Iowa —
Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.) put together a team-best 89 to siting 11
th after the first round of the 36-hole Luther Invitational, and leading the Cardinals to a fourth-place showing in the team standings.
Host Luther is the first-day leader, shooting a 332, followed by UW-La Crosse (334), St. Scholastica (365), and Saint Mary's (370).
Luther's Morgan Kranz and UW-La Crosse's Maija Tanberg carded five-over-par 77s to share the individual team lead, with Luther's Kelly Schultz three shots back, following an opening-round 80.
Along with Massimo's 89, the Cardinals also got 93s from
Dani Stevens (Delano, Minn.) and
Celeste Van Klein (Lake City, Minn.), a 95 from
Madyson Ulrey (North Manchester, Ind.), and a 109 from
Cassie Sepp (Duluth, Minn.).
The final round of the 36-hole tournament is set for Sunday at Oneota Golf Course in Decorah, Iowa.
