WINONA, Minn. — It's been an amazing start to the indoor track and field season for Saint Mary's University senior
Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.).
And it has not gone unnoticed.
A week after tying the school record in the 55 at the season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal on Jan. 18, Lichttenegger was in a record-setting mood once again last Saturday, breaking the school's long jump record at the UW-Stout Open.
And Tuesday, Lichttenegger was recognized for his effort, being named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced.
Lichttenegger uncorked a school-record long jump leap of 7.32 meters — the fourth-longest jump in NCAA Division III this season — to win the event at the UW-Stout Open last Saturday.
Lichttenegger and the Cardinals are back on the track next Saturday, as Saint Mary's travels to Menomonie, Wis., to take part in the UW-Stout Open.
