Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) — who equaled the school record in the prelims of the 55 at the season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal on Jan. 18 — broke the school mark in the long jump at the UW-Stout open last weekend, posting a jump of 7.32 meters. … Lichttenegger's effort at the UW-Stout Open earned the senior his first MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor. … Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) led the way for the Cardinal women at the UW-Stout Open, placing third in the high jump (1.58m). … The Cardinals posted 11 Top 10 performances at the UW-Stout Open last weekend. … The Cardinals recorded seven first-place finishes — and posted 23 Top 3 performances — at the non-team-scored, season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal last Saturday. … Lichttenegger (55, 6.62), Christian Beamer (Two Harbors, Minn. / triple jump, 12.74m), Tyler Amy (Chatfield, Minn. / shot put, 12.79m), Jake Hogan (La Crescent, Minn. / 400, 52.50), Jon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn. / mile, 4:44.96), and Coleton Strupp (Holmen, Wis. / pole vault (3.80m) all took home first-place honors for the Cardinal men, while Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) chipped in a first in the long jump (5.32m) for the Saint Mary's women. … The Saint Mary's men finished with 20 top-five all-time performances in 2019 — including 9 school records — with the women adding 10 top-five all-time performances in 2019. … The Cardinals boasted a school-record seven NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship qualifiers in 2019 — including returning high jumpers Beamer and Ohde, and three members of the 4x100 relay team — Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.), Noah Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.), and Lichttenegger. … The Cardinals collected four All-MIAC performances at the 2019 regular season-ending MIAC Outdoor Championships — including three from Lichttenegger. Lichttenegger finished second in the 200 (22.00) and third in the long jump (6.99 meters), while joining Boone, Anderson, and Desmond Steward (Bayside, Wis.) to finish second in the 4x100 relay (41.94). … Lichttenegger holds the outdoor long jump school record at 6.99 meters. … Indoors, the Cardinals posted four Top 3, All-MIAC performances at last season's MIAC Championships — led by Ohde, who cleared 1.65 meters on her first attempt en route to an All-MIAC second-place finish in the high jump.
