  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals are coming off a 1-1 showing in their first weekend of the 2021 season — falling to Bethel in the teams' season- and conference-opener 8-1 on March 5, before rebounding with a 7-2 nonconference win over Loras the following afternoon. … Josh Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) picked up singles wins in both matches last weekend, while Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.), E.J. Hietala (Duluth, Minn.), Brandon Kurilla (Hastings, Minn.), and Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) all notching singles wins against Loras on March 6. … Janssen has now won nine singles matches in his first two seasons with the Cardinals, having gone 7-3 a year ago. … The 4-6, 6-0, 10-3 win by Hietala at No. 6 singles against Loras on March 6 was his first collegiate singles victory. … Smiley closed out 2020 as the team's singles wins leader with eight — including a career-best six-match winning streak. … The teams of Janssen/Evan Huemoeller (Owatonna, Minn.) and Hietala/Reilly Fredell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) have accounted for Saint Mary's two doubles wins this season. … With their 7-2 showing against Loras on March 6, the Cardinals improved to 66-24 in nonconference matches since 2012.
  WARTBURG KNIGHTS SCOUTING REPORT
The Knights entered their weekend matches against Northwestern (Iowa) and Saint Mary's boasting a 3-6 overall record — including a 6-3 loss to Hamline in their most recent match on March 6. … After opening the season 3-2 in their first five matches, the Knights enter the weekend in the midst of a four-match losing streak. … Lucas Huffman enters the weekend leading the Knights with six singles victories, one more than Cade Davis and two in front of both Nile Petersen and Jared Hefel. … Huffman and Davis are both riding two-match singles wins heading into the weekend. … Huffman has earned all six of his singles victories at No. 1, while four of Davis' five wins have come at No. 3. … Huffman is the only Knight to have played all nine matches at the same singles position. … Along with his team-leading six singles wins, Huffman also leads Wartburg with five doubles wins, one ahead of Jackson Eells. … As a team, Wartburg is 24-30 in singles action and 10-17 in doubles play.
  ST. OLAF OLES SCOUTING REPORT
The Oles dropped their season-opener on March 6, falling to Gustavus 9-0. … St. Olaf was sitting at 1-4 overall when the pandemic shut down the 2020 season, with the Oles' lone win a 7-2 victory over Hamline on Feb. 14, 2020. … Spencer Wick, Tony Klagge, Dez Young, and Henry Smith accounted for all eight of the Oles' dual-match singles wins — with each one winning twice. … As a team, St. Olaf finished 2020 15-30 in singles play, winning two matches at Nos., 1, 4, 5, and 6, while going winless at Nos. 2 and 3. … Smith and Kevin Kalkus teamed to win two of St. Olaf's four doubles victories. Young/Tim Roback and Ethan Bruha/Wick had the other two. … St. Olaf finished 2020 2-3 at No. 2 doubles, while going 1-4 at Nos. 1 and 3.
