WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University fastpitch softball team had waited 696 days to finally take to their home field for Wednesday's nonconference doubleheader against UW-River Falls.

Unfortunately, thanks to Mother Nature, the Cardinals will have to wait a few more days.

Rain has forced the postponed of the Cardinals' twinbill against the Falcons on Wednesday, with no make-up date at this time. Saint Mary's will now return to action — and their long-awaited home opener — on Friday, hosting UW-Platteville in a 2 p.m. nonconference doubleheader.
