  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Cardinals played seven of their 10 matches during the condensed 2020 season on the,ir home courts at the Winona Tennis Center. … Saint Mary's finished 4-3 at home, after picking up five of its seven wins a year ago at the Winona Tennis Center. … Saint Mary's closed out the season winning four of its last six. … The Cardinals' 9-0 win over the University of Dubuque on Feb. 15 was their third 9-0 victory of the season. The Cardinals also own two 6-3 wins and one 7-2 decision. On the flip side, two of Saint Mary's four losses were by 9-0 scores. … Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) had his career-high six-match singles winning streak snapped in the Cardinals' 9-0 loss to Macalester on Feb. 21. … Smiley closed out the year leading the team with eight singles victories, one more than Josh Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) and two in front of Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.). … Janssen had his four-match singles winning streak snapped with a 6-2, 6-2 setback against St. Thomas on Feb. 15. … Robbie Sobczak (Cloquet, Minn.), Graves and Janssen played all 10 singles matches at Nos. 1, 4, and 5, respectively. … Nolan Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn. / 2-4), Philip Kostecka (Pequot Lakes, Minn. / 1-1), and Jared Hippman (Bollingbrook, Ill. / 1-0) all saw action at No. 6 singles. … Janssen recorded his first collegiate singles win with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles against Martin Luther on Jan. 24. … Sobczak/Graves owned a team-leading six doubles match wins. … Brandon Kurilla (Hastings Minn.)/Trevor Smiley played all 10 matches together at No. 1 doubles, going 3-7, while Graves/Sobczak teamed to go 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, and Janssen/Nolan Smiley finished 3-5 at No. 3. Hippman/Janssen owned Saint Mary's other win at No. 3 doubles. … The Cardinals closed out the year 35-25 in singles play, while going 14-16 in doubles. … With their 9-0 showing against the University of Dubuque on Feb. 15, the Cardinals improved to 65-24 in nonconference matches since 2012. … Saint Mary's dropped just eight games in sweeping the singles matches against Dubuque on Feb. 15 — including 6-0, 6-0 wins from Trevor Smiley, Graves, and Janssen. … With their season-opening win over Martin Luther, the Cardinals improved to 14-0 all-time against the Knights — including seven 9-0 wins in their last eight contests. …  The Cardinals' three doubles teams dropped just three games combined against Martin Luther on Jan. 24. Saint Mary's won five of the six singles matches against Martin Luther in straight sets, including a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sobczak at No. 1.
  BETHEL ROYALS SCOUTING REPORT
The Royals got eight matches in before COVID-19 shut things down a year ago, posting a 6-2 mark — including winning two of three MIAC contests. … After dropping two of their first four matches — beating Central-Iowa and Edgewood by 8-1 counts, while being blanked 9-0 by both UW-Eau Claire and Gustavus — the Royals closed out the shortened season with four straight wins. … Erik Beckers and Jacob Lukkarila closed out 2020 as the team's singles leaders with five wins — Lukkarila finished 5-1, while Beckers was 5-2. Tyler Greelman, Joey Mueller, and Jason Reilly all ended the year with four singles victories. … Mueller and Zach Kantor the only BU players to play in all eight singles matches a year ago. … Beckers and Lukkarila enter Friday's opener against Saint Mary's riding four-match singles winning streaks. … Mueller and Kantor teamed up to go 5-3 in doubles play, while Beckers/Reilly finished 4-4. … As a team, BU boasted a 28-20 record in singles action, while going 15-9 in doubles play. 
  LORAS DUHAWKS SCOUTING REPORT
The Duhawks come into Saturday's match against Saint Mary's having already played three contests this season — beating MSOE and Greenville by identical 7-2 counts, before falling to Illinois Wesleyan 5-1. … Loras played nine matches a year ago, before COVID-19 put a halt to competition. … Thomas Kampmier has picked up wins in all three of the Duhawks' doubles matches this season. Kevin Blomquist, Connor Pivnicka and Eian Coad are second with two singles wins in Loras' three dual matches. … Loras was near-perfect in doubles play in its first two matches, going 5-1 — including a 2-0 showing by Blomquist/Kampmier at No. 1. … Blomqiust/Kampmeier suffered their first doubles match against Illinois Wesleyan, falling 8-2 to move to 2-1.
