  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) quailed for the NCAA Indoor National Championships in both the 60 and the long jump a year ago. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the senior was not able to compete, since the NCAA cancelled all winter and spring national championships. … Lichttenegger was named the USTFCCCA Central Region Field Athlete of the Year, while also earned All-Central Region honors in the 60, 200, and long jump. Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) also collected regional accolades in the long jump. … The Cardinals closed out the 2020 MIAC Indoor Championships with three conference champions and five other Top 3 All-MIAC performances. Lichttenegger won the long jump (7.56m) and 200 (22.09) crowns, and adding a second in the 60 (6.91), while joining Matt Boone (Mindoro, Minn.), Garrett Jackson (West Linn, Ore.), and Noah Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) to win the 4 x 200 relay with a school-record time of 1:29.24. Klausler picked up the Cardinals' third all-conference honors, placing second in the long jump (5.49m) — the second longest leap in program history — and Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) and Christian Beamer (Two Harbors, Minn.) added all-conference efforts No. 4 and No. 5 with second- and third-place showings, respectively in the high jump with leaps of 1.53m and 1.98m … Lichttenegger picked up two prestigious MIAC honors, being named the Indoor Championships' Outstanding Field Athlete, while his record-setting long jump effort was tabbed the Indoor Championships' Outstanding Performance of the Meet. … Lichttenegger's school- and conference-record leap of 7.56 meters at the MIAC Indoor Championships was the top performance in all of NCAA Division III last season. Lichttenegger's long jump performance was not only a school and conference record — by more than a foot — but the 13th longest effort ever in NCAA Division III history. … Lichttenegger equaled or broke 10 indoor school records in 2020. … The Cardinal men's 4 x 400 relay team of Anderson, Jackson (West Linn, Ore.), Jake Hogan (La Crescent, Minn.), and Matt Boone (Mindoro, Minn.) shattered the previous school mark by three seconds with a time of 3:26.09 at the Maverick Invitational on Feb. 21. … The Cardinals broke three school records and delivered 12 Top 10 performances at the Minnesota State-Mankato Maverick Open on Feb. 21. … The Cardinals combined for two school records, 10 first-place finishes and 25 Top 5 performances at the Luther Invitational on Feb. 8. … The Cardinals recorded a pair of first-place finishes and posted 13 Top 10 finishes at the Warren Bowlus Invitational on Feb. 1. … The Cardinals posted 11 Top 10 performances at the UW-Stout Open on Jan. 25. … The Cardinals recorded seven first-place finishes and 23 Top 3 efforts at the non-team-scored, season-opening Cardinal Early Birdinal on Jan. 18.
