  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Saturday's match against Saint John's is just the third road contest of the season for the Cardinals, who have played five of their first seven contests on their home courts at the Winona Tennis Center. … The Cardinals' 5-4 loss to Northwestern on April 2 snapped the Cardinals' 13-match winning streak against the Eagles. … SMU's loss to Northwestern on April 2 was the Cardinals' first match decided by a 5-4 decision this season. Two of Saint Mary's three wins have been. 6-3 decisions, with the other a 7-2 triumph. On the flip side, the Cardinals have suffered two 8-1 defeats and one 7-2 decision to go along with their 5-4 loss to Northwestern. … Trevor Smiley (Minnetonka, Minn.) pushed his singles winning streak to six in a row with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles against Northwestern on April 2. … Smiley's six singles wins — one at No. 3 singles and five at No. 4 — are tops among the Cardinals, with Gabe Graves (Littleton, Colo.) and Josh Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) tied for second with three wins each. … Graves (No. 5) is the only Cardinal to have played all seven matches at the same position. … Evan Huemoeller (Owatonna, Minn.) recorded his first collegiate singles win against Northwestern on April 2, posting a 3-6, 6-2, 10-1 win at No. 2. … Huemoeller is third Cardinal to post his first collegiate singles win this season. E.J. Hietala (Duluth, Minn.) notched his first win against Loras on March 6, while Reilly Fredell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded a 6-3, 6-1 vs. Hamline on March 19 for his win No. 1. … Fredell leads the team with five doubles wins, one more than Graves. … Fredell and Graves are riding a four-match winning streak as a doubles team. … Saint Mary's has used four different doubles combinations at No. 3. … With their wins over Loras and Wartburg, and loss to Northwestern, this season, the Cardinals are now 67-25 in nonconference matches since 2012.
  SAINT JOHN'S JOHNNIES SCOUTING REPORT
The Johnnies enter Saturday's home match against Saint Mary's boasting a 4-1 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in conference play. … SJU had its season-opening four-match winning streak snapped with a 9-0 MIAC loss to Gustavus on March 27. … Three of Saint John's four wins this season have been 8-1 decisions — beating Concordia, St. Olaf, and Hamline — with the other victory a 9-0 decision over UM-Morris. … Peyton Fischer, Will McDowell, and Mason Meyer all lead the team with four singles wins each — all four had their season-opening four-match winning streaks snapped in SJU's 9-0 loss to Gustavus on March 27. … SJU has used at least two different players at every singles position this season, led by Fischer, McDowell, and Meyer, who have all played three different positions. Fischer is 1-0 and No. 2 and No. 3, and 2-1 at No. 4; McDowell is 1-0 at No. 1 and No. 2, and 2-1 at No. 3; and Meyer is 1-0 at No. 3 and No. 4, and 2-1 at No. 5. … Fischer and Thomas Gillach share the team lead in doubles wins with four. … Gillach/McDowell and Peyton Fischer/Hunter Fischer both own 3-1 records as doubles teams to lead the Johnnies. … As a team, SJU is 20-8 in singles play, while going 11-4 in doubles competition.
  MACALESTER SCOTS SCOUTING REPORT
This weekend's matches against Gustavus and Saint Mary's are the first of the season for the Scots, who got five matches in a year ago, before COVID-19 shut things down. After opening 2020 with four straight victories, Macalester dropped an 8-1 decision to UW-Eau Claire in what proved to be its final match of the season. … Jeffrey Jorgensen closed out the 2020 season unbeaten in his three singles matches, while Alexander Hamann, Sam Hochberger, Karsten Knutsen, Anton Koroley, Michael Lockhart, Sawyer Michaelson, George Steinke, Matthew Sullivan, Aidan Toner-Rodgers, and Ben White all recorded two singles wins. … As a team, the Scots were an impressive 25-5 in singles play in their five 2020 matches. … Hamann, Jorgensen, Lockhart, Steinke, Toner-Rodgers, White, Sullivan, Michaelson, and Josh Marine all shared the team lead with two doubles wins each. … The Scots closed out 2020 11-4 in doubles play. … Three of Macalester's four wins last season with 9-0 sweeps, with the other an 8-1 victory.
