In their second road meet of the season, the Cardinals posted a combined 10 first-place finishes — including a pair of individual titles and a relay title for Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.) — and boasted 21 Top 3 performances at the Gustavus Lee Krough Invitational last Saturday. … Boone has dominated the sprints this season, and the Lee Krough Invitational was no different, as the senior won the 100 (11.40) and the 200 (22.67), while joining Noah Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.), Garrett Jackson (West Linn, Ore.), and Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) to win the 4x100 with a time of 41.72. … Along with his spot on the 4x100 relay, Lichttenegger also won the long jump (6.47 meters), while Sean Curran (Appleton, Wis.) delivered a first in the hammer (51.07m) and Coleton Strupp (Holmen, Wis.) cleared 4.00m to win the pole vault. … On the women's side. Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.) and Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) posted first-place individual efforts in the long jump (5.11m) and 400 (59.50), respectively, while Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.) won the high jump (1.60m) and Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) posted the top throw in the javelin (33.75m). … The Cardinals record 19 Top 5 performances — including four event winners — at the Saint John's Invitational on April 2. … Jon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn.), Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis.), Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.), and Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) all posted first-place finishes at the SJU Invitational. Meaden delivered a time of 4:06.73 in winning the men's 1,500, while Ohde cleared 1.57 meters to claim the  women's high jump crown, Gearin stopped the clock in 1:01.20 to win the 400, and Swanson uncorked a toss of 37.92 to win the javelin. … The Cardinals put together 16 first-place finishes in the rain-plagued Masked Mayhem Opener on March 27 at the Saint Mary's Track & Field Complex, led by Boone, who posted his second straight first-place triple — winning the 100 prelims, 100 finals, and 200. Swanson led the way for the Cardinal women at the Masked Mayhem Opener on March 27, posting three first-place efforts — winning the 800, the javelin, and running the anchor leg of the Cardinals' winning 4x400 relay. … In their only indoor meet of the 2021 season, the Cardinals collected a combined 15 first-place finishes — including three by Boone.
