  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
Saint Mary's recorded three first-place finishes and added 15 Top-5 performances at the St. Thomas Tomcat Invitational on April 30 in St. Paul, Minn. … Sydney Klausler (Lakeville, Minn.), Samantha Kubes (New Prague, Minn.), and Kyle Lichttenegger (De Pere, Wis.) picked up first-place showings at the St. Thomas Invitational. Lichttenegger led the way for the Cardinal men, posting a first in the long jump (6.87 meters) and a second in the 100 (10.81), while Matt Boone (Mindoro, Wis.) delivered a second in the 200 (22.45) and a fourth in the 100 (10.87). On the women's side, Klausler launched a jump of 5.28 meters in winning the long jump, and Kubes posted a mark of 41.06 meters to win the hammer. Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) also had a pair of Top-5 showings, placing second in the pole vault (3.37m) and fifth in the 200 (27.05). … Saint Mary's delivered 11 first-place individual event winners at the SMU Drake Alternative on April 24. Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) won the javelin at the Drake Alternative, uncorking a toss of 42.46 meters — tops among all MIAC competitors and the eighth-best throw in the nation. … Klausler (LJ, 5.55m), Kubes (Shot, 11.14m), Rachel Ohde (Chetek, Wis. / HJ, 1.58m), Gearin (800, 2:25.17; PV, 3.40m) and Amanda Tuvey (West St. Paul, Minn. / Steeplechase, 12:20.08) all posted first-place performances for the Cardinal women… Five members of the SMU men's team also collected first-place showings at the Drake Alternative last Saturday — Frankie Bakalars (La Crosse, Wis. / Hammer, 50.25m), Lichttenegger (LJ, 6.56m), Sean Curran (Appleton, Wis. / Discus, 40.57m), Jacob Homan (North Mankato, Minn. / Shot Put, 13.22m), Boone (400, 50.74). … The Cardinals recorded 10 first-place finishes and posted 31 Top 5 performances at the non-team-scored Hamline Invitational on April 17. … In their second road meet of the season, the Cardinals posted a combined 10 first-place finishes — including a pair of individual titles and a relay title for Boone — and boasted 21 Top 3 performances at the Gustavus Lee Krough Invitational on April 10. … The Cardinals recorded 19 Top 5 performances — including four event winners — at the Saint John's Invitational on April 2. … The Cardinals put together 16 first-place finishes in the rain-plagued Masked Mayhem Opener on March 27 at the Saint Mary's Track & Field Complex, led by Boone, who posted his second straight first-place triple — winning the 100 prelims, 100 finals, and 200. Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) led the way for the Cardinal women at the Masked Mayhem Opener on March 27, posting three first-place efforts — winning the 800, the javelin, and running the anchor leg of the Cardinals' winning 4x400 relay. … In their only indoor meet of the 2021 season, the Cardinals collected a combined 15 first-place finishes — including three by Boone.
