• 1: Samantha Munson (Plain City, Utah) scored her first collegiate goal in leading the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team to a 1-0, nonconference win over UW-Stout last Wednesday. Munson is the fourth Cardinal to net her first goal in an SMU uniform this season, being joined by Malerie Williams (Osseo, Minn.), Ella Lahart (Sherwood, Ore.), and Lauryn Skoruppa (Littleton, Colo.).
• 2: Making her first collegiate start in goal, Anna Peckosh (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) stopped both shots she faced in the first half of the Cardinal women’s soccer team’s 1-0 win over UW-Stout last Wednesday. Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) stopped two second-half shots in relief, as the two combined on the four-save shutout.
• 3: The SMU volleyball team had three players record double-doubles in last Wednesday’s 3-2 nonconference loss to Luther. Abbie Stigler (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) led the way, posting a double-double of 19 kills and 11 digs, while Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) chipped in a double-double of her own with 10 kills and 16 digs. Not to be left of out the Cardinals’ double-double parade, Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) posted 24 assists and 19 digs.
• 3: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team battle its opponent to a 0-0 tie for the third time in the last two seasons with last Saturday’s scoreless deadlock against Augsburg. SMU played to 0-0 ties against both Saint Benedict and St. Scholastica a year ago.
• 3-0 x 2: The Saint Mary’s volleyball team picked up back-to-back conference wins last weekend, posting 3-0 sweeps over both Hamline and Carleton. Saint Mary’s has now posted 3-0 sweeps in six of its nine wins this season.
• 3-0-2: With their 0-0 tie against Augsburg last Saturday, the Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2). SMU has beaten UW-Stout (1-0), Concordia (2-01), and Gustavus (1-0), while tying St. Catherine (1-1) and Augsburg (0-0) during its five-game run.
• 4: After playing 16 of their first 18 matches on the road, the Cardinals’ conference showdown against Carleton last Saturday was the first of four straight home contests.
• 7: Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) stopped all seven shots she faced in the SMU women’s soccer team’s two shutout wins last week. The senior made two second-half saves in relief of starter Anna Peckosh (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) in last Wednesday’s 1-0 win over UW-Stout, and added a five-save shutout in SMU’s 0-0 tie against Augsburg three days later.
• 12: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) stopped a single-game career-high 12 shots — for the third straight game — in the SMU men’s soccer team’s 3-0 loss to Augsburg last Saturday. Sessler made nine of those career high-tying 12 saves against the Auggies in the first half.
• 21: Abbie Stigler (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) equaled her career-high with 21 kills in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-0 win over Hamline last Friday. The freshman also had a career-best 21 kills against Webster on Sept. 16.
• 28: Peyton Berg (Chatfield, Minn.) recorded a career-high 28 digs in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-2 loss to Luther last Wednesday. Berg has now recorded 20 or more digs in a match five times this season.
