• 1: Taryn Dornself (Somerset, Wis.) netted her first collegiate goal in the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team’s 3-2 overtime loss to Lake Forest. The Cardinals had 10 players net their first goal in an SMU uniform a year ago.
• 1 + 1: Kas Kingston (Black Diamond, Alberta) scored a goal in both of the Cardinal women’s hockey team’s games against Lake Forest last weekend.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s women’s soccer team locked up its second straight MIAC Playoff berth with a 2-0 victory over Macalester last Tuesday. SMU will open post-season play on Tuesday, heading to Northfield, Minn., for a 2 p.m. showdown with St. Olaf.
• 2 x 2: Bud Winter (St. Louis, Mo.) scored two goals and Colin Tushie (Prior Lake, Minn.) recorded his first collegiate two-assist game in the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s season-opening 5-5 tie against Lake Forest last Saturday. It took the Cardinals 22 games before they had a multiple-goal scorer a year ago.
• 2 + 2: Laudon Poellinger (La Crescent, Minn.) had a goal and an assist in both of the Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s nonconference games against Lake Forest last weekend.
• 5: Haddy Falkman (Waconia, Minn.) scored her team-leading fifth goal — and assisted on the Cardinals’ other tally — in the SMU women’s soccer team’s 2-0 win over Macalester. The multiple-point game was Falkman’s third of the season.
• 5: The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team’s five goals in last Friday’s 5-5 tie against Lake Forest were the most in a game since the Cardinals netted six in beating Bethel 6-5 in overtime on March 6, 2021.
• 6: The Cardinal women’s soccer team’s 1-0 win over St. Scholastica in the regular season-finale last Saturday was their sixth straight victory. After opening the season 2-4-0, SMU is now 9-1-2 in its last 12 games
• 6 + 0 = 7: Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) picked up her sixth shutout of the season with a six-save effort in the SMU women’s soccer team’s 2-0 win over Macalester last Tuesday, and did not have to make a save en route to shutout No. 7 against St. Scholastica four days later.
• 13: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) made seven saves in the Cardinal men’s soccer team’s 1-0 loss to Macalester last Wednesday and added six saves against St. Scholastica in their season-final three days later.
• 10: Hannah Herrem (Fall Creek, Wis.) recorded a team-high 10 digs in the SMU women’s soccer team’s 3-0 nonconference loss to UW-La Crosse last Tuesday. It was the fifth time this season the Cardinal freshman has recorded double figures in digs.
• 12 + 13 = 11: Mandy Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) collected her 11th double-double of the season last weekend, recording 12 assists and 13 digs in the Cardinal volleyball team’s 3-0 conference loss to St. Olaf last Friday.
• 18: Celeste Rimstad (Richfield, Minn.) made 18 saves in her first collegiate start for the Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team last Saturday against Lake Forest.
• 22: Granton Schneider (Moorhead, Minn.) shaved seven seconds off his previous best eight-kilometer time, breaking the tape in 26:21.1 to place 22nd overall and lead the SMU men’s cross country team to a 10th-place showing at last Saturday’s MIAC Championships.
• 26:09.03: Kendra Klobe (Glencoe, Minn.) — making her inaugural conference championships appearance — led the Cardinal women’s cross country team’s charge at the MIAC Championships last Saturday, clocking a six-kilometer time of 26:09.3 in leading the Cardinals to a 10th-place finish in the team standings.
• 31: Jordan Keeley (St. Peter, Minn.) stopped 31 of the 35 shots she faced in the Cardinal women’s hockey team’s 4-2, season-opening loss to Lake Forest last Friday.
• 33: Matt Sankner (Pennington, N.J.) stopped 34 shots in the Cardinal men’s hockey team’s 5-5 tie against Lake Forest last Friday. The 34-save effort was one shy of the sophomore’s career best.
• 36: Connor Close (Des Moines, Iowa) stopped a career-high 36 shots in the Cardinal men’s hockey team’s 6-3 loss to Lake Forest last Saturday. The 36-save effort was three more than his previous career-best, a 33-save showing against Bethel on Feb. 2, 2021.
• :58: The Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team needed just 58 seconds to score their first goal of the season. Kas Kingston (Black Diamond, Alberta) scored the season’s first tally in the Cardinals’ 4-2, season-opening loss to Lake Forest last Friday.
• 119: Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Ill.) made six saves in the SMU men’s soccer team’s season-ending loss to St. Scholastica last Saturday, giving the junior goalkeeper 119 saves for the season — tops in the MIAC.
• 300+: The Saint Mary’s volleyball team closed out the season with two players who collected more than 300 kills. Ciarra McNally (Lewiston, Minn.) led the way with 346, followed by Abbie Stigler (Menomonee, Wis.) with 313.
