SAINT MARY’S SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Cardinals head into their conference matchup against St. Scholastica sitting at 7-6-1 overall, while sporting a 2-5-0 record in five conference contests..
• LAST TIME OUT: St. Olaf scored the game’s only goal in the 13th minute, as the Oles put an end to SMU’s four-game unbeaten streak, dealing the Cardinals a 1-0 conference setback Thursday at Rolf Melby Field in Northfield, Minn.
• FAST STARTS: The Cardinals have scored a goal before the eight-minute mark five times this season. Genesis Capacio (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored at 7:09 against UMN Morris on Sept. 1, Laura Ashe (Beaverton, Ore.) needed just 2:55 to put SMU out front against Wartburg on Sept. 3, Ella Lahart (Sherwood, Ore.) found the back of the net 7:52 into the first half against Beloit on Sept. 5, Samantha Munson (Plain City, Utah) scored at 2:19 of the first half vs. Lawrence four days later, and Ashe struck quickly again against Bethel last Saturday, finding the back of the net at 2:49.
• HOME ON THE ROAD: The Cardinals, who went 6-1-2 in their eight home games last season, have collected five of their seven wins this season on the road. SMU is 5-3-0 in seven road contests, while sitting at 2-3-1 at Ochrymowycz Field.
• CLOSE CALLS: With Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to St. Olaf on Tuesday, 11 of Saint Mary’s 14 games this season have been decided by one goal or less. … Tuesday’s loss to the Oles snapped SMU’s four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) — the Cardinals had not allowed a goal in that four-game span.
• THROWING UP ZEROS: All seven of SMU’s victories this season have been by shutout — 6-0 over UMN Morris, 2-0 vs. Bethel, and 1-0 over Beloit, Lawrence, UW-Stout, Concordia, and Grinnell. … All told, 12 of SMU’s 14 games this season have been decided by shutout — the lone exceptions, 2-1 losses to Wartburg and Gustavus. … Twenty-six of Saint Mary’s last 33 games have been decided by shutout — including 16 of SMU’s last 18 wins.

• SPREADING THE WEALTH: Saint Mary’s 15 goals this season have come from nine different players, led by Munson and Leonard, who have each netted a team-best three goals. Ashe and Lauryn Skoruppa (Littleton, Colo.) have both scored twice, while Capacio, Lahart, Brooklyn McKinney (Thornton, Colo.), Hannah Bradley (Portland, Ore.), and Sadie Chrusciel (Geneva, Ill.) own SMU’s other five goals.
• CAREER FIRSTS: Saint Mary’s has had three players net their first collegiate goals this season. Chrusciel tallied her first goal as a Cardinals in SMU’s 2-1 loss to Gustavus on Sept. 27; Bradley netted her first collegiate goal in SMU’s 6-0 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 1, while Ashe’s first-half tally against Wartburg two days later was her first as a Cardinal.
• CAREER FIRST II: Samantha Munson collected her first collegiate multiple-point game, scoring once and assisting on two others for a four-point effort in SMU’s 6-0 win over UMN Morris on Sept. 1.
• LENDING A HAND: Samantha Munson and Peyton Maier (Elk River, Minn.) share the team lead with three assists each, while Lahart, Ashe, McKinney, Leonard, Anna Warneke (Maple Grove, Minn.), Kaelyn Clasen (Kent, Wash.), and Kaylen Pray (Port Townsend, Wash.) have all collected one helper..
• POINT PRODUCER: Samantha Munson sits atop the team’s points race with nine (3 G, 3 A), followed by Leonard with seven (3 G, 1 A). Ashe is third with five (2 G, 1 A), followed by Skoruppa with four (2 G), and McKinney (1 G, 1 A), Lahart (1 G, 1 A), Bradley (1 G, 1 A), and Maier (3 A) with three each.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Anna Peckosh (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has started nine of the Cardinals’ 14 games in goal, compiling a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .784 save percentage. • GOALKEEPING FIRSTS: McKenzie Munson recorded her first collegiate win and first career shutout — in her first collegiate start, a 1-0 win over Beloit on Sept. 5. … Peckosh stopped a career-high eight shots in racking up career shutout No. 1 against UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 16, 2022. … Peckosh made her first collegiate start against UW-Stout on Oct. 5, 2022, stopping both Blue Devil shots she faced in 45:00 of play, while making her first appearance in a Cardinal uniform on Sept. 17, 2022, making three saves in 22 minutes of relief in SMU’s 3-0 loss to Saint Benedict. … Nadal made her first collegiate start on Sept. 21, 2022 against Luther, stopping seven first-half shots.
• CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS: Saint Mary’s has scored 10 of its 15 goals this season in the first half. … Saint Mary’s has allowed just nine goals in 14 games — four in the first half and five in the second. … SMU has outshot its opponents 192-156, including 93-68 in shots on goal. … SMU’s six goals against the Cougars on Sept. 1 are the most since SMU poured in 11 goals against Martin Luther on Sept. 6, 2021.

• FOR THE RECORD: The Saints head into their road matchup at Saint Mary’s sporting an 1-10-1 mark, including a 1-3-1 showing in conference play.
• LAST TIME OUT: St. Scholastica scored two goals in a three-minute span midway through the first half, as the Saints collected their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Hamline last Tuesday in Duluth, Minn.
• LIMPING IN: With Tuesday’s 2-0 win at Hamline, St. Scholastica put an end to its five-game losing streak — while also snapping its 16-game winless streak (0-13-3), dating back to a 1-0 win over Hamline on Oct. 8, 2022. … CSS, which put an end to a season-opening six-game losing streak with a 1-1 tie against St. Olaf on Sept. 23, had dropped decisions to Luther (4-1), St. Catherine (2-0), Carleton (2-0), and Macalester (1-0) in its five games prior to Tuesday’s win over the Pipers.
• POWER OUTAGE: The Saints have scored just five goals in its first 12 games this season — netting single goals against Bethel, St. Olaf, and Luther, and tallying a season-high two goals in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Hamline. … CSS scored just 14 goals in 18 games a year ago, with seven coming in the Saints’ two wins — a 4-0 triumph over Finlandia and a 3-1 victory against Hamline.
• SHE SHOOTS AND SCORES: St. Scholastica’s five goals this season have come from five different players — Madelyn Carroll, Gabrielle Eckman, Abigail Shrode, Kaitlyn Sautter, and Ellie Keillor. Sautter and Keillor netted CSS’s two goals in Tuesday’s win over Hamline.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Tenley Voth and Avery Sutton have each had a hand in two of CSS’s five goals.
• POINT PRODUCTION: Carroll, Eckman, Shrode, Voth, Sautter, and Keillor all share the team lead in points with two each.
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Gracie Meagher has started nine of the team’s 12 games in goal for the Saints, compiling a 3.11 goals-against-average and a .711 save percentage. Brianna Jorgenson has started the other three games, posting a 3.02 GAA and .735 save %. … Meagher has stopped 69 of the 97 shots she’s faced, while Jorgenson has made 25 saves. … Meagher has made 10+ saves in a game three times — stopping 10 shots against both Carleton and MSOE, while posting a season-high 12 saves against Hardin Simmons on Sept. 1.
