• 1 + 1: Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.) had a hand in both wins in the SMU women’s tennis team’s 7-2 loss to Northwestern last Friday. Henderson teamed with Maddie Dosser (South St. Paul, Minn.) for a win at No. 1 doubles, before posting a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles.
• 1 x 2: Warner Young (Newberry, Mich.) and Andrew Froese (Traverse City, Mich.) scored the SMU men’s hockey team’s two goals against Concordia last weekend. Young netted his sixth of the season in last Friday’s 7-1 loss, while Froese tallied goal No. 3 in the Cardinals’ 4-1 loss the following afternoon.
• 1:02: Allie Urlaub (Burnsville, Minn.) scored 1:02 into overtime in lifting the Cardinal women’s hockey team to a 4-3, season-ending win over Concordia last Saturday. The goal was Urlaub’s fifth of the season.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team played its second overtime game of the season last Wednesday, outscoring Bethel 7-5 in the five-minute extra session to seal a 70-68 win over the playoff-bound Royals.
• 2: The Saint Mary’s women’s hockey team closed out the season with back-to-back overtime games against Concordia last weekend. SMU battled the Cobbers to a 1-1 tie on Friday, before getting a goal by Allie Urlaub (Burnsville, Minn.) 1:06 into OT for a 4-3 win the following afternoon.
• 2, 4, 4: Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) delivered a blistering time of 22.55 to place second in the 200, while Granton Schneider (Moorhead, Minn.) raced to a fourth-place showing in the 800 — breaking the tape in 1:59.57 — and Brady Johnson (Elburn, Ill.) posted a mark of 12.68 meters to finish fourth in the triple jump to lead the charge for the SMU men’s track and field team at last Friday’s Maverick Invitational
• 3: The SMU fastpitch softball team hit three home runs in hits four games at the Mankato Dome last weekend, getting round-trippers from Naleya Bork (De Pere, Wis.), Ali French (Winona, Minn.), and Cassie Sutor (Chicago, Ill.).
• 3: With their 83-67 win over Bethel last Wednesday, the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team locked up its third MIAC Playoff appearance under coach Joe Fano. Saint Mary’s finished the regular season XXX in the conference standings, earning the No. 4 seed — and a Tuesday home game to open the MIAC Playoffs.
• 3: Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) closed out her career with the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team sitting No. 3 all-time in scoring with 1,556 career points. The senior also leaves SMU as the program’s all-time leader in 3-pointers (255) and 3-point attempts (724).
• 3: Three of the Cardinal men’s tennis team’s six singles matches against Northwestern last Friday went to a third set. Josh Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) and Caden Rodning (Mason City, Iowa) each collected three-set wins, while E.J. Hietala (Duluth, Minn.) dropped his three-setter.
• 3.44: Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) led the way for Cardinal women’s track and field team at last Friday’s Maverick Invitational, placing second in the pole vault, clearing a career-best 3.44 meters — narrowly missing out on breaking the school record of 3.45m, set by Maria Missurelli in 2018.
• 4-4: Playing in her first collegiate game, Ali French (Winona, Minn.) went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored in the SMU fastpitch softball team’s 8-0 season-opening win over Crown last Saturday.
• 5, 6: Kas Kingston (Black Diamond, Alberta) scored with five seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Cardinal women’s hockey team to a 1-1, overtime tie against Concordia last Friday. The Cobbers turned the tables the following afternoon, scoring with six seconds to play in regulation to knot the game at 3-3 and force a second straight OT.
• 6-1, 6-0: Emily Henderson (Jordan, Minn.) recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to account for the SMU women’s tennis team’s lone win in an 8-1 loss to reigning MIAC Playoff champion Carleton last Sunday.
• 16: The SMU men’s basketball team secured its 15th and 16th wins of the season last week — posting an 83-67 victory over Bethel last Wednesday, before dropping Gustavus 77-69 three days later. The 16 wins are the most since SMU finished 16-11 during the 1977-78 season.
• 8: The Cardinal fastpitch softball team erupted for eight first-inning runs in its 13-1, five-inning win over North Central last Sunday — Allison Ciero (Glen Ellyn) collected two hits in the inning.
• 20: Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) — playing in her final collegiate game — scored a team-high 20 points in the SMU women’s basketball team’s 75-51 loss to No. 18 Gustavus last Saturday.
• 19: Khai Branham (Bemidji, Minn.) knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a career-high 19 points in the Cardinal men’s basketball team’s 77-69 win over Gustavus last Saturday. The freshman had not scored more than six points in a game prior to Saturday’s 19-point outburst.
• 29, 27: Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) and Owen Ziegler (Mount Horeb, Wis.) scored 29 and 27 points, respectively, to lead the Cardinal men’s basketball team to an 83-63, playoff-clinching victory over Bethel last Wednesday. Ziegler scored 18 of his 27 points in the second half — and knocked down seven 3-pointers, one shy of his single-game, school-record.
• 33 + 12 = 11: Raheem Anthony (Chicago, Ill.) scored a game-high 33 points and added 12 rebounds for his team-leading 11th double-double of the season in the SMU men’s basketball team’s 77-69 win over Gustavus last Saturday. The 33-point effort marked the sixth time this season the senior has scored 30 or more points in a game.
• 100: Ashley Streveler (Colby, Wis.) drained her 100th career 3-pointer — in her final game as a Cardinal — in the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team’s 75-51 loss to Gustavus last Saturday.
• 107: Brooklyn Paulson (Holmen, Wis.) closed out her illustrious career starting every game as a Cardinal, a program-record 107 consecutive starts.
• .545: Ali French (Winona, Minn.) — making her collegiate debut — went 4-for-4 in her first game with the Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team and finished the weekend 6-for-11 to hit a team-best .545 in the Cardinals’ four games at the Mankato Dome. French collected one double and her first collegiate home run, while also scoring five runs.
